Since the outbreak of 2020, Top Gun: Maverick has been one of the most successful Hollywood movies. In the movie, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, played by Tom Cruise, makes a triumphant return to the illustrious school known as Top Gun in order to direct a team of aspiring pilots in an almost impossible mission. Seeing Tom Cruise reprise as Maverick in Top Gun more than three decades after the film’s first release was a sight to remember.
Top Gun: Maverick has recurring characters, brand-new cast members, and even cameos from other characters who had previously only been referenced by name.
- Tom Cruise portrays CAPT Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a military ace who helps Top Gun graduates prepare for missions.
- Val Kilmer as ADM Maverick’s longtime companion and one-time adversary, Tom “Iceman” Kazansky, is now in charge of the United States Pacific Fleet.
- Miles Teller, a pilot for the F/A-18E mission training group, portrays Lieutenant Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw. Maverick’s former RIO and close buddy, LTJG Nick “Goose,” and Carole Bradshaw, are his parents. He is Maverick’s son. Before that, Aaron and Adam Weis, twin brothers, had uncredited parts in Top Gun as the character Rooster.
- Penelope, played by Jennifer Connelly “Penny” Benjamin, is a reignited love interest for Maverick. She is a single mother, a pub proprietor, and an admiral’s daughter.
- As the VADM, Jon Hamm Simpson, often known as “Cyclone,” served as the commander of the Naval Air Forces.

- LT Reuben “Payback” Fitch is a pilot on a F/A-18F aircraft and a mission candidate played by Jay Ellis.
- Danny Ramirez plays LT Mickey “Fanboy” Garcia, Payback’s F/A-18F Weapons Systems Officer and a potential mission candidate for the program.
- LT Javy “Coyote” Machado, a pilot of a F/A-18E aircraft and a mission candidate for the F/A-18E development program, is portrayed by Greg Tarzan Davis.
- Maverick’s close friend, CWO-4 Coleman, or Bernie ‘Hondo,’ is played on the show by Bashir Salahuddin.
- The role of LT Billy “Fritz” Avalone, a F/A-18E pilot and mission candidate, is played by Manny Jacinto.
