UCLA Highlights: LiAngelo Ball and LaMelo Ball Playing Basketball Together

Despite being suspended indefinitely by UCLA, freshman LiAngelo Ball has been in the spotlight lately. His arrest for shoplifting in China forced the school to suspend him indefinitely. He is now unable to travel with the team or practice with them. LaMelo Ball, LiAngelo’s younger brother has taken care of it for him. Ball recently played in the Charlotte Hornets’ summer league. This video shows the two playing basketball together.

His performance in a pick up game against LeBron Jam is the first highlight of Ball’s college career. This was just three months after his parents pulled him out of high school, after which his mother worried that he might be injured. LaVar, LiAngelo’s father, was concerned that his son might be playing on the same team with LeBron James. He decided to leave his high-school. Despite his parents’ initial concerns, the UCLA coach quickly changed his mind and allowed him to play.

The aforementioned three-star recruit went on to become a top pick in the NBA draft. He later became suspended for shoplifting in China and pulled out of UCLA to pursue his professional career. The Balls signed with the Prienai professional league in Lithuania. After playing in the Lithuanian professional league, Lonzo Ball moved to the G League. In late 2020, he briefly signed with the Detroit Pistons but was waived before the start of the 2020-21 season. He later signed with the Greensboro Swarm in 2021.

LaVar Ball’s children were suspended from school for several month for shoplifting. His father, LaMelo, was so upset, he removed his son from school. Former UCLA coach LaVar Ball said that his son’s suspension had been unfair. He also argued that a suspension does not derail a kid’s spirit. LiAngelo was also forced to wear the No. 15 jersey instead of the UCLA number.
