Virginia Tech Alumnus Bruce McLaughlin

There are many ways to find a Virginia Tech alumni who is a fan of the Hokies. Bruce McLaughlin has a few unique characteristics. His passion for sports is one of them. Bruce is a season-ticket holder of all Virginia Tech athletics teams. He is also a member of several Virginia Tech advisory boards and serves on the Dean’s Board for the College of Architecture and Urban Studies. Among other things, he serves on the campaign committee for the Hokies.

Arians was a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech, where he coached quarterbacks alongside fellow grad student Nelson Stokely, a former LSU quarterback. His maturity as a coach was evident, and he was not a “backroom assistant.” After all, he was married for his entire college career. Despite his humble beginnings, Arians was a successful college football coach. His legacy and impact on the game are legendary.

The Virginia Tech athletic department has a sports hall of fame for legendary athletes. Smith’s name appears on several honor rolls, including those of the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame. He was inducted into Virginia Tech’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2008, he was inducted into the Hampton Roads Sports Hall of Fame, a nonprofit organization honoring the athletes, coaches, and community members who make the sports industry better.
