The library operated in a building on Main Street until 1978 when it was transferred to the City of Wasilla. The Library Association was able to raise the money for a new building and was able to secure a Federal Library Construction Grant administered by the State Library. This committee reviewed demographic data, analyzed population projections, and established a space program based on the services that people would most likely use the library. The new building boasts an additional 95,000 book shelves, 40 computers, 20 laptop systems, and 90 parking spots. The Wasilla Public Library can be found at 500 N.
