What Are Foam Pigs Used For?

Foam Pigs

Foam pigs are vital tools in the oil and gas industry that can be used to clean pipelines before they are put back into production. Foam pig are inserted into the pipeline and travel through it, cleaning any built-up residue or deposits along the way. This ensures that no obstructions or debris could cause problems down the road.

Foam pigs come in various shapes and sizes, depending on the size of the pipeline they will be used in. They can be made from foam, rubber, or plastic, either solid or hollow.

Foam pigs are often used when there is a build-up of residue in the pipeline, such as wax, heavy oils, or bitumen. If this build-up is not removed, it can cause problems with the flow of oil and gas through the pipeline and even lead to a complete shutdown of the pipeline.

When foam pigs are first deployed into a pipeline, they will be used to break up the residue that has built up. This is done by deploying foam pigs with a metal weight attached to them which causes them to impact against the pipeline’s walls as they travel through it. The foam pig scrapes off any residue as it travels, and the metal weight breaks it up into small pieces.

After the foam pigs have broken up the residue, they are followed by a second set of foam pigs which travel through the pipeline and collect the residue. These foam pigs are often called “scrubbers”, and they are responsible for cleaning the pipeline so that it is ready for production.

Originally foam pigs were used by gas companies for this purpose, but later foam pigs became more popular with oil companies because foam pigs are also useful in other ways as well.

The foam pig has also been found to be useful in other industries as well. For example, sewerage companies have used foam pigs to clean pipelines before they are put back into production.

Foam Pigs

Foam pigs are made out of a foam material that is very durable and can be used to clean pipelines with no problem. The foam material is also designed not to damage the pipe if it rubs up against it.

Pipeline pigs are foam pigs designed for specific tasks, but foam pigs are just generic pipeline pigs used to do various jobs around different industries.

The foam material that foam pigs are made out of is foam rubber which can absorb around 20 times its own weight in liquid before it becomes saturated. Foam pigs are able to clean pipelines by themselves due to their foam design that allows them to trap debris inside of it then they can be easily disposed of.

Foam materials are used in foam pigs because foam materials are easy to clean with foam cleaners which is exactly what the foam pigs are designed for. The foam scrubbers can be reused numerous times, and they should always be cleaned once they are done collecting waste material from pipelines or other places.

After foam pigs have finished doing their job in a pipeline, the pipeline must be inspected for any possible damages that may have occurred from the foam pig. If there are any damages, they must be fixed before the pipeline can be put back into production.
