What to Look For on the 2018 Pacers Roster

If you’re a fan of the Indiana Pacers, you’re probably wondering what to look for on the 2018 Pacers roster. Many of the same players will be on the roster as last season, including Malcolm Brogdon and T.J. Warren, Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner. What else can you expect to find? These are the most important things to look out for, as well as a player who fits in with your team’s style.

First, the Pacers need a leader. While the best player is obviously the best option, it doesn’t mean the leadership position is automatically relegated to one player. In Dallas, Rick Carlisle had two great leaders in Dirk Nowitzki and Vince Carter. The Pacers should spend some of their free agency money on a veteran. Two examples of potential candidates are Paul George and Reggie Miller. There will be many other stars on this year’s roster.

As far as the Pacers’ injury situation is concerned, they have been hit by injuries more than any other team. After being traded to the team, LeVert missed half of last season. T.J. Warren is recovering from a foot injury. These two players are vital pieces to this team. They are their best wing player and could make an immediate impact if both of them stay healthy. And as long as the team has a wing player to replace LeVert and a scorer, the Pacers will be in good shape.

With so many players to choose from, it is easy to see how the Pacers should improve this season. In the off-season, they were rumored to trade Myles Turner, but ultimately settled for hitting the reset button and drafting Chris Duarte and grabbing Isaiah Jackson on draft night. Despite their inconsistent play the Pacers made an impressive move and drafted the all-around guard/wing. Duarte should get some minutes, but won’t start the season because the team’s other players are already more than capable of scoring.

The Indiana Pacers are always making moves when it comes to free agents. The Pacers are making moves in offseason with the recent signing of Tyreke Evan. Jeremy Lamb, who was the #1 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, could be the next wing on the team. However, he is still recovering from an ACL injury and must regain his fitness. A potential trade partner for Lamb would be Tomas Satoransky. He could even be traded to the Pacers.

The Indiana Pacers are in desperate need of a revamped roster to compete in the Eastern Conference. The team will have to make major changes before February 10th’s NBA Trade Deadline. They must make tough decisions if the Pacers want to be in the playoffs in 2021-22. They will need to find the right players to trade for them to get them back on track.
