Zack Martin – Former Notre Dame Offensive Lineman

Zachary Martin is an offensive lineman for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football for Notre Dame and was drafted 16th by the Cowboys during the 2014 NFL Draft. Despite his quiet beginnings at Notre Dame, Zack Martin has become one of the nation’s top offensive linemen in this draft class. He is a three-year starter who set a school record with 52 career starts. He can play either guard or tackle, but his greatest strength is his ability to play both. He is currently participating in the Senior Bowl in Mobile (Alabama), where he spoke to Joe Everett, Rookie Draft host, about his Notre Dame experience. Martin, despite his redshirt year at Notre Dame has made it to the NFL draft. He should be picked around number 21 overall. Martin is similar to Nick, his younger brother and ND’s starting centre in 2013.

The Notre Dame offensive has recorded a record eight sacks in four seasons. Three of those sacks were also produced by the Irish defense. With Martin as the best blocker, the Irish’s offensive line was able to prevent many of those sacks and has been named second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation. In 2009, Martin signed with Notre Dame as part of the college’s ninth recruiting class. He joins Tyler Eifert and Manti Te’o, Chris Watt, Zeo Riddick.

Zack Martin, a former Notre Dame lineman has been consistently the best offensive lineman of the NFL since 2012. After graduating from college, he joined the Dallas Cowboys and has been an integral part of the team’s offensive identity. The Cowboys ranked in the top 10 in rushing offense three consecutive seasons in his four seasons with them. Martin has been named to the Pro Bowl three times and ranked No. Martin has been No. 2 three times.

Martin has played every position on the offensive line for Notre Dame during a 9-4 season. His versatility and size have earned him respect from scouts. Martin is expected to be a first round pick in the upcoming draft, due to his impressive senior bowl practice. He will be the second highest draft pick if he is selected in round 1.

The sophomore was a key member of the 12-3 Indiana Class 3A state championship team. His high school team won the state championship with a 14-1 record.
