1989 New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints’ twenty-third season was in 1989. They were led by Jim E. Mora (Sr.), and played their home games at the Louisiana Superdome. Despite their success, the Saints finished 9-7, despite their previous 10-6 record. They missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year. Their resurgence was however promising.

The 1989 New Orleans Saints ended the season with a record 9-7-1. The team’s point differential was +85. That was an unimpressive number, as the Saints were expected to win 10.3 games and finish 10-6. The Saints also lost three of their one-score games and one that ended in overtime, which was not a good sign. The defense was not very impressive either, and the Saints surrendered 301 points.
