The Ebbing family first learned about the Mellow Mushroom franchise in Asheville, N.C., where a pizzeria opened in 2009. Colby Zachrich, the franchise owner, suggested New Albany for the pizzeria. The Ebbings signed a lease with the New Albany Co. two years ago, and the pizzeria has opened in its current location at the northwest corner of Market and Main streets.
The Mellow Mushroom Columbus would become the third location in central Ohio. It would cover 6,800 square feet and be the largest. This would be larger than Dublin or Polaris, and would allow for an additional ten tap handles for craft beer. The restaurant will have a patio on Market Street, and seating in an alley. The owners want a restaurant that is both affordable and great for the community.
