Tiffany “T Barb” Barber was born and raised in Detroit and started her career at General Motors. Later, she decided to pursue comedy and started performing at open mic nights. Her passion for comedy grew and she has been doing stand-up for five years now. She credits her mentor, Coolaide, as her greatest influence. Coolaide also owns a Detroit hot dog stand. She is currently writing her memoir, “I am a Black Comic from Detroit”, in addition to performing stand up.
Her family, friends, and career were affected by the pandemic. Many of her opportunities to perform were lost. She was able to perform in Los Angeles in April, where she received a standing-ovation. She was even offered a writing job for Kym Whitley. She has plans to continue to keep the crowds laughing, and even consider moving to Atlanta. She will keep performing her stand-up act, and will be moving to Atlanta to pursue her dream job.

John Witherspoon was born in Detroit and became a successful actor and comedian of Black origin. He was born John Weatherspoon, one of eleven children. He loved comedy, and his father, William, was a songwriter for Motown Records. He was the one who wrote the lyrics to the 1966 hit “Hello Detroit”. From there, the comedian of color’s comedy career took off. He made many friends in the entertainment industry during his early years.
