1. Columbia River Gorge
This lovely Oregon destination is perfect in the spring. When you set down your waterproof picnic blanket you’ll get a great view of the cascades and see plenty of budding flowers.
When you’re not eating, you can go for a hike, enjoy the water, or even bask in the sun with a good book. It’s fun for the whole family.
The Pacific Northwest is still a bit chilly in spring, so dress for the weather.
2. Forsyth Park
Savannah, Georgia is one of the most welcoming cities in the state. It’s often outshined by Atlanta, but don’t let yourself skip this sweet, historic city.
There are plenty of places to picnic in Savannah, but Forsyth Park is one of the better ones. While it’s not as “natural” as some of the options on the list, it’s a beautiful paved park with trees to shade you from the sun and plenty of room to move around.
Savannah has perfect warm weather and you can leave the jacket at home.
3. Guadalupe River
If you’d rather take a trip to Texas, the Guadalupe River is a fun place to picnic and enjoy the water on the same day. You should bring a bathing suit.
The river is great for tubing and rafting, but this might be a better choice before you have your meal. There’s enough shade on the shore to keep yourself out of the sun, and there’s plenty of room for everyone to sit and eat.
4. Glacier Point
Do you love to hike? If so, Glacier Point in Yosemite, California can give you the perfect view and the perfect picnic spot all in one.
While many people think of the sun and sand when California comes to mind, it also boasts some of the most beautiful mountains. You won’t get a view like this at any other picnic spot in the United States.
5. Central Park
We know about Central Park in New York City. This means that it’s a little bit crowded when picnic season rolls around, but don’t let that deter you if you’ve never been there.
It’s a beautiful oasis in the middle of the city, and everyone needs to see it at least once. There’s plenty of green grass for you to set out your picnic blanket and people-watch.
