He had an aptitude for computer-aided design (CAD) as well as marketing his goods. John’s many accolades included membership in the National Association of Truck Stop Operators (NATSO) as well as frequent speaking engagements at industry events. Additionally, he received the NATSO’s Lifetime Achievement Award and served on the board of directors of Trucking Alliance.

His most remarkable achievement was a multi-year contract with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles. Furthermore, he owned The Greater Chicago I-55 Truck Plaza, an expansive shopping complex in Chicagoland dubbed its flagship travel plaza.
