Jake Oliver – Actor & Founder of Finback Investment Partners

Jake Oliver, a student at Jesuit High School, flirts with Lexy behind her boyfriend Junior’s back, unknowingly becoming stalked by Chucky who thinks he is Lexy and begins following him around campus.

Prof. Oliver is an easy grader so long as students actively engage with class discussions.

Early Life and Education

Oliver enjoyed an exceptional high school career at Dallas Jesuit, setting state records of 308 receptions and 4,567 yards. Soon thereafter he accepted a coaching job at Bishop Lynch; throughout these years his family remained close to their Catholic faith, schools and church.

Oliver participated in early nuclear test ban negotiations of the late 1950s as part of a team of seismologists trying to upgrade their equipment so it could detect underground nuclear explosions, eventually leading to the Limited Test Ban Treaty of 1963. This work helped pave the way.

Oliver also served on TWG2, the group charged with early talks on a limited test ban treaty. Oliver notes that TWG2 differed slightly from Geneva Conference as it focused less on politics and more on science.

Professional Career

Jake Oliver is a partner with Finback Investment Partners of Miami, providing principal equity investments and growth equity partnerships to entrepreneurs, families, sovereign entities and institutional strategic investors. Additionally, Jake serves as senior policy advisor at Bryan Cave Strategies.

Oliver made over 60 appearances and helped guide Hednesford Town from Conference League back into the Football League. Additionally, he briefly played for Hereford United and Northwich Victoria.

Oliver was an integral component of Tom Herman’s Longhorns veer-and-shoot offense last season, yet competition among wide receivers for starting spots is fierce. Instead of returning for another season at UT, he decided to graduate and focus on his career instead. In an extensive statement released after making this decision, he thanked both UT for their time while noting a possible employment opportunity as his motivation.

Achievement and Honors

Oliver assisted Stanford men’s cross country to reach its most successful year since 1997, leading them to three top-four Big Ten finishes and NCAA appearances under his tutelage.

Oliver earned recognition on both the 2022 PFF National True Freshman Team and Nagurski/Bednarik watch lists as a freshman, starting all 14 games and recording seven tackles and six quarterback hurries, becoming a team captain along the way.

Oliver was nominated this season for The Tom Landry Award, honoring Texas’ top high school football player. As one of five finalists – Allen’s Alec Morris, Denton Ryan’s Mario Edwards Jr., McKinney Boyd’s Bryan Driskell and Aledo’s Johnathan Gray were the other nominees – no award was presented based on these nominations selected by a panel of Texas football experts. Unfortunately Oliver did not take home this prize.

Personal Life

Jake was an active member of Nashville United Methodist Church and loved traveling with his large family. He also was known for his warm bear hugs and fun sense of humor – qualities which will always be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Oliver may find it surprising, but one of his most vivid memories from Jesuit was not breaking Jordan Shipley’s Texas high school receiving record or being invited to the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but rather his team’s trip to Dublin, Ireland which created an irreplaceable three-generational bond among its members.

Jake and Morgan Kemendo first met while still in high school and celebrated their love of UT by including a football-themed cake at their wedding! Both avid sports fans, they enjoy spending time with family.
